How To Reduce Wind Noise In Jeep Wrangler Hard Top

It doesn’t matter if you have a factory soft top or vinyl with half doors; many Jeep drivers – especially those who live in colder climates – often pull up those doors to make themselves heard by the person on the other side.

1. Use Fatmat to Reduce Noise from below

For those who have to make many phone calls and be heard by the person on the other line, noise from below is often an issue.

The best way to do this is by adding a layer of sound-deadening fatmat in your factory floor wells. Fatmat has held up well in our various Jeep projects, so we suggest it for any interior sound-deadening project.

2. Use an Insulating Foam

For those who do not want to take out the old Factory carpet or can’t pull up their factory soft top, B-Quiet is a good option for sound-deadening. In our project, we used a layer of 1/8″ foam on top of the carpet and then applied B-Quiet over it. In this case, it was easier not to remove the factory carpet, and it turned out well.

Note that you can buy a 2 pack for less than $30 here. You can also use an insulation mat to deaden hard-top wind noise. Multiple brands make a product like this. We used an affordable one from Harbor Freight.

The mat is easily cut with a utility knife to fit around the side windows and center visor hole, then covered with B-Quiet or 1″ foam (not shown). The carpet is returned after the final layer of sound-deadening material is applied.

3. Use a Decoupler

If you have an audible noise coming from the hard-top and cannot soften or remove the OEM carpet, a decoupler can help fill in the gap.

This is a small decoupler that is easy to install, and it can save a lot of noise. Simply mount it to the top of your side windows, and you no longer need to take off the OEM carpet or soften things up!

4. Use a door-mounted decoupler

Many customers report that the exhaust system on their Jeep Wrangler has a lot of wind noise. If you have an issue with the OEM soft top, this will help eliminate this noise.

A “Door Mounted Noise Canceler” is designed to work with the existing hard-top hinges and springs. The product is offered to fit any vehicle, and it’s usually sold in pairs… one for each side of your vehicle.

5. Use a noise-canceling windshield

Another thing you can do to reduce noise is to add a noise-canceling windshield. This is a system that effectively absorbs sound.

Windshields that have been done with sound-absorbing material (fiberglass, mica, etc.) are often the best option to install on the outside of your motor home or car. They can be customized however you like, whether tinted or clear.

Are Hard-top Jeeps safe?

Yes, hard tops are safe for your vehicle. Your Jeep is built to handle the cold, so there is no reason to be worried about the top coming off when it’s -10 degrees outside. The soft top on your Jeep Wrangler may cost more than the hard top and have issues at low temperatures, but the hard top can be safely installed at any temperature.

Do Jeep Wrangler’s flip over easily?

No, especially in the newer models. Wranglers have gotten larger and heavier over the past few years, so they are a lot harder to flip. They are also made with frame rails that run from front to back on each side of the vehicle for extra protection against rollovers.

For example, Jeep’s frame rails are extremely rigid and high-strength steel. The tires also help provide traction and stability to the vehicle while driving.

The newer models now have a short wheelbase, and the axles are higher up than in previous models. This gives the vehicle a better turning radius and more ground clearance for off-roading purposes. Its articulation suspension systems also help the off-roading capabilities of the Wrangler.

If you own a Jeep Wrangler with a hardtop, you may have noticed that there is an annoying wind noise when driving at higher speeds. This can be incredibly frustrating, especially if you’re trying to enjoy a quiet drive. The good news is that there are some things you can do to reduce wind noise.

First, make sure that all of the seals on your hardtop are in good condition. If they’re worn or damaged, they may be letting in more air than they should. You can also try adding some weatherstripping around the edges of your hardtop.

This will help to create a tighter seal and reduce the amount of air that can get inside. Finally, make sure that your windows are rolled up tight when driving at high speeds. Even a small crack can let in a lot of unwanted noise.

Jeep Wrangler Wind Deflector

As the weather gets warmer, many people start to hit the open road in their Jeep Wranglers. One important accessory for your Jeep is a wind deflector. A wind deflector helps to keep the wind from blowing directly into your face while you’re driving.

In most cases, you’ll just need to attach the deflector to the door frame with screws or bolts. Once installed, you can adjust the angle of the deflector to suit your needs. If you enjoy driving your Jeep with the top down, a windshield is an essential piece of equipment.

Not only does it help keep bugs and debris out of your face, but it also blocks UV rays and keeps you cooler in hot weather conditions. When choosing a windshield for your Jeep, make sure it’s made from shatterproof material and has been tested for safety.

When shopping for a new windshield, keep in mind that there are two main types: hard tops and soft tops. Hardtops are generally more expensive but offer better protection from bad weather and UV rays. Soft tops are less expensive and easier to install, but they don’t provide as much protection.

The wind whistle is caused by the way the body of the Jeep is designed, with the windshield and side windows being slanted inwards.

This creates a “tunnel” effect that amplifies the sound of the wind as it rushes past the vehicle. While some people find the wind whistle to be annoying, others see it as part of the Jeep’s charm. In any case, it’s something to be aware of if you’re considering purchasing a Wrangler.
